Anyone have a reciever wrench or barrel wrench to get a stub off of an m14 barrel? Cutting it off ala FAL style is a non plan.

I disassembled my M1a by putting the barrel in a barrel vise and using a large adjustable wrench purchased at Home Depot for $28.00. Used plenty of tape to protect the receiver and only applied the wrench to the flat portions up front.

Is the front 1 inch of the receiver clean and not buggered with torch spall?

Also, do you need this done immediately, or can it wait till the FAL match at RBGC?

Its actually on a friends rifle. Not torch cut, it was an old saw cut reciever. Not a big hurry. We have HUGE vises at work and some time. Just want ti keep it from getting damaged, apparently his parts kit came with EVERYTHING and he wants to sell the halves. Seeing the one on GB go for almost a grand, I don't blame him

How close to Dobbins are ya? I'll be in Kennesaw at least a couple of days next week. Maybe we can meet up.

I'd prefer to remove the stub myself, rather than let somebody else use the tools. They are shop made, and not US armorer's kit. The receiver block is made of aluminum, and I'd be worried that somebody (especially with a big-assed vise) might bend or bugger it.

If you're comfortable with it, we could hand it off one day, and I could return it the next. Lemme know what think.

Panzer,

pm me with a contact number, so I can get in touch with you tomorrow. Are you free to come and go at will, or is there I time window (such as lunch time) which is best for you?

I'm almost in the shadow of Kennesaw Mtn, along Burnt Hickory. Lemme know where you want to meet.
