What are the dates for the Century R1A1 or time period and are they before the century L1A1 or after? Any problems known for them over the L1A1?

Don't know exact dates, my R1A1 is dated 2000 in the magwell. Believe they changed designation to L1A1 when they began using Century receivers, not sure.

Problems? You mean like:

(1) Crappy undersized two-piece gas piston
(2) Drilling hole in barrel for muzzle brake
(3) Barrel overtimed by 6 deg.
(4) Bolt closed on a 1.638 Field gage. Moderate pressure.

...and don't forget the occasional folding (L1A1) rear sight on metric R1A1.

When I got my R1A1, the muzzle brake was welded on crooked. The rounds would impact it after leaving the muzzle. Keyholes at 7 yards.
After I had my 'smith cut off the brake and crown it, it shoots fine.

Well, this sucker I got has like 17 1/2" of barrel and flashhider and the flashhider is a piece of tubing welded on over the end of the barrel. I can stick my finger down in it. Who made the R1A1 receivers? It looks like it had the widows peak at one time before it was dremelled. Now unibrow.
