I picked up some 7.62x51 ammo today. Headstamp TW, 68, nato cross. It is on links. Any Idea about origin? Safe to delink and shoot in FAL, G3, CETME? TIA. E.

Assuming the Chinese or Vietnamese have not copied the 7.62 as the Chinese did the .30 Carbine ammo (and I haven't heard of it) then it is Twin Cities Ammunition plant production. Boxer, NC, standard USGI ammo.

ALL NATO-spec cross-in-circle ammo is safe to shoot in FAL/G1/G3, yadayada.

On the 223(5.56) this round wasn't NATO Standard until the British & the Germans changed over to the SLR & HK93 in the late 80's Early 90's. The headstamp won't reflect NATO status until '90's lots.

That is incorrect the German Bundeswher never adopted the 93 they were using the G3 in fact up till about 2 years ago when they adopted the G36. Also I have Lake City 5.56 brass with Nato headstamps from as early as 83.
