What powders do you use most often? Personally I use win231, 748 and Bullseye. Just curious. Thanks.

Geeze, I've never tried 231 or Bullseye in my FAL.

Thar she blows!!!!!

Just kidding.

231 and Bullseye for light pistol charges, Unique for medium handgun charges, 296 and 2400 for Magnum handgun charges.

Surplus IMR-4895 (7.62/.308, .30-06), W-W 748 (5.56/.223, 7.62/.308), IMR-4350 (.30-06 and .270 bolt guns), IMR-4831 (big bolt guns), Reloader 7 (.45-70, 7x57 carbine) in rifles.

A few others for specialized stuff.

...aint no rifle powder my FAL don't like.

But, I did watch a fella at a highpower match blow up TWO Garands with a mixture of rifle and pistol powder. He blew up the first one, and insisted it was a defective rifle. It took him two months to recover from the blast. He next showed up with ammo from the same lot. One round...and KB #2...and another Claymore Garand. We confiscated his ammo, and then checked to see if he was OK. He was fine. Still stupid as ever. The ammo autopsy revealed a combo of stick and ball powder.

He was combining two powder types, wow. Goes to show you should never be surprised by the stupidity of your fellow man. Say, this isn't the same guy who was using 36lb recoil springs in his Glock 19?

I use a few different powders (not all at the same time). Favorite for .357 Magnum has to be Alliant/Hercules 2400. Great velocity, very accurate, and wonderful fireballs. Blue Dot works well too. Accurate #7 and Vihtavouri 3N37 for 9mm, and IMR 4064 for .308. Win 396 and Alliant 2400 have been good for .44 Mag.
