View Full Version : WTK Hensoldt z24 on a fal
March 30, 2008, 20:52
We know we can mount a Hensoldt z 24 on a old fal trilux top cover,no problem there. What we need to know before, is what are the 308 cams in the z24 scopes based on when it comes to ballastics, and would the settings past 100 be on after we zero the scope. The rifles are very similar and seems to us it should work. If any one knows some info they could share that would be nice. We wanted to try this so we can set our own eye relief that, and also they are good quality scope, and thanks for any replys.

Sorry but the two mounts are absolutely & totally different.
The Trilux SUIT fits it's own unique mount which is completely incompatible with the STANAG fitting on all the Hensoldts.
To mount a Z24 of any type you need either a STANAG top cover, or adaptors from PICATINNY to STANAG.
The cam on my Z24 is marked for .308,and seems to be pretty much dead on out to 400Yds when zeroed at 200 Yds. It is also dead on at 100 yds when zeroed at the 200yd distance.
Now at 500 it needs 2 extra clicks of elevation, and at 600 it needs 5.
This is using SA milsurp.
I think, but can't proove that the difference between the meters (39 inches) and yards is helping to cancel out the effects of slightly diferent bullet weights.
Here is the table (with inch values & metric)
100 200 300 400 500 600 RANGE
2 2 2 3 3 5 2.2 MPH
7 8 10 11 15 23 11.2 MPH
Reticle width 100 meters 200 meters 300 meters 400 meters 500 meters
0.1 1 cm 2 cm 3 cm 4 cm 5 cm or 2"
0.5 5 cm or 2" 10 cm 15 cm 20 cm 25 cm or 10"
1.0 10 cm or 4" 20 cm 30 cm 40 cm 50 cm or 20"
1.5 15 cm or 6" 30 cm 45 cm 60 cm 75 cm or 30"
2.5 25 cm or 10" 50 cm or 20" 75 cm 1M / 1.1 yds. 1.25 M
4.0 40 cm or 16" 80 cm 1.2 M 1.6 M 2 M
5.0 50 cm or 20" 1 M / 1.1 yds. 1.5 M 2 M 2.5 M
10.0 1 M / 1.1 yd. 2 M / 2.2 yd. 3 M / 3.3 yd. 4 M / 4.4 yd. 5 M / 5.5 yd.
Sorry it posted so poorly alligned, the site's parser doesn't like Excel spreadsheets.

Thanks for the info on the z24,thats what we really needed to know and we have a lot of SA . We have an old trilux cover and a couple of hours in the shop we can make our own adaptor and get the scope low and right for myself. I did not know if there was a top cover for a stanag scope that slides on and off ,no tools required, like the trilux top cover,if so i haven't seen one,and if there was i would buy one and save some time. I like the ease of installation and low profile of the trilux but thats about it. and thanks again for the info page i just printed.

Try SARCO for the mount you're looking for.
It is ready to go & is the equivalent to a SUIT mount for the Hensoldt.

Yes i am going to buy one from SARCO,it dosen't look like it will put the scope up to high either and for that price its worth a try,and thanks for info.

You're right it is not as tall as some of the aftermarket ones.
The rear of the fero scope "just" clears the top of an Indian folding rear sight, so you should have no problem with a fixed metric type. Now Inch pattern will be a different story.
I'm afraid the only pic I have has the sight folded, but you get the idea.
