Is that the one you were looking for or did you want to see the real thing?
DSA's version is a bit different than the genuine article.

The real thing would be nice.
I have to think LH threads though, as that's what the barrel I'm thinking of putting one on is.

I noticed on the SLR ad you want to put this on an Imbel barrel. FWIW, these don't fit any of my Imbels due to theImbels not having the slight step that the Belgian barrels which used these fhs had. There may well be exceptions, however. There might just be enough meat on the fh to allow you to open it up to fit over the barrel, but I've never tried it and it looks pretty edgy.
Also, you'll need to machine the barrel slot for the locking washer. Be sure to get forged fhs such as Pat has, as the later, more common cast ones WILL eventually banana peel on ya :(

Is this the bolt& "nut" shown in the pics, or is there some internal washer (like a crush washer) needed?
I'm wondering how much machining is going to be neeeded & if it's even practical with hand tools & a steady hand.

It's a keyway that needs to be cut similar to the keyway on those stupid Brit rifles

I'm not sure how critical the index washer would be on an LH threaded FH as long as you got it indexed with a crush or spacer washer. You could probably cut the index slot with a Dremel if you were real careful, but I'll bet that if you snugged the fh down on a crush washer, it would stay put and you could make a "dummy" index washer with a flat bottom to bear on the uncut barrel.
You'd still have to get it to overlap the barrel properly, though.
Why not just use one of the DSA "clones" ? Not identical, but still pretty and effective.

Is the DSA one cast, or forged, do you know?
I was looking for the original due to some posts about later copies doing a bannanna peel.

My guess is that DSAs are machined bar stock, so should be pretty good to go.
Haven't looked at one for awhile, but IIRC, the machining of the slot is slightly different and eliminates the "point" or sharp edge that is a stress riser.

Thanks, guys, but I think I'll stick with the combo device I have.
