View Full Version : Ballistic Coefficients (BC) for NATO 7.62x51?

I'm still having trouble trying to sight in my rifle (being half blind doesn't help, I'm sure). I've done some searches, and I've found the note on 4cm high at 25yds., etc. I'm wondering just what exactly the ballistic coefficient of a NATO STANAG 147 grain bullet is? I might not have searched the right part of the old posts, can anybody either tell me or point me in the right direction?

Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

This thread will help: http://www.l1a1.com/cgi-bin/forums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=009296
Ted gives the BC for 147g NATO ball about half-way down. (.393???-That's by memory).

.393 is close enough that I wouldn't waste my time trying to verify it though further sources.

For the Sierra 150 grain FMJ the numbers are:
.408 @ 2800 fps and above
.397 between 2800 and 1800 fps
.387 @ 1800 fps and below

Thanks, guys. Now I'm gonna be a putz and wonder out loud how much variation there actually is bewteen various manufacturer's bullets, although I'm gonna use the .393 for my calculations :)

Thanks once again
