Gents,
Today I tested two different powders in the
FN. THis is a cai gun I had to drill the gas port out on (today it was at .1110) to get a consistant cycle so the earlier question on
748 win. powder being to fast was answered.
The 748 worked fine on the 3 setting (didnt cycle 100% on 4). I even tried some 3031 which is a faster powder than the 748 and it would cycle at the 1 setting. As yet I've not fired any 4895 (slower than 748).
The 748 load was 46g.
The 3031 was 41.5 g.

This is not a blanket statement and
these are only test I have made and not
recomendations http://www.fnfal.com/forums/smile.gif

What bullet weight are you using with those
powder charges?

I have had real good luck with Re#15 and also
BL-C(2). Meters smooth and functions great, leaving no residue.....

THis was with 150 g bullets.
I've some 125g sp that I had loaded
awhile back with 3031 (142g) and will fire
those shortly to check.
I have been told on here that 4895 was the standard mil powder. and will get some this weekend at the GUn Show.
Have you loaded any of the tracer (30 cal
originally for 30-6)?

There is H-4895, IMR-4895 commercial, and mil-surp IMR-4895.

Either the commercial or milsurp IMR-4895 is what you want. H-4895 is something else.
