It's been due every month for at least six months. Then I heard May, June, late Summer, now the Fall.
I wouldn't use it myself, but if you insist wait 2-3 months until the reports start coming in on the various boards(it's hard to sell "iffy" ammo if a problem arises). This is the first caliber they've kept putting off, and for so long.
Make do with South African & Portuguese till then.

Was there an especially attractive price for Wolf .308? Otherwise I'm pretty happy with 14 cents per round for Portugese ammo.

There's another Russian co. named Barnaul that manufactures 7.62x51. I've used the 140 grain soft-point. The range I like does not allow FMJ, and sometimes there just isn't time to fix up the surplus on the reloading press. It worked well enough for me, and kicked the STG-58 without changing gas settings, but it is pretty sooty and kind of a pain in the ass to clean up. It has a steel, lacquered case, but I don't mind.

Well...confessions of a former Wolf supporter...

I've fired 1,000's of rounds of Wolf in 9mm and 9x18 and 7.62x39 with absolutely ZERO complaint.

I bought two boxes of .45 acp Wolf last weekend and took it to the range. On the second clip I had a FTE. The ejecter was sheered completly off my Colt Series 70. Hmmm......was it the Wolf steel cases...or was it just that time?

I will never know...but I won't be firing anymore Wolf in my 45 after I replace the extractor!

I've given up on the 7.62 NATO Wolf,it's a myth...just like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

With Port at $139 a 1000 delivered, why would you want Wolf?

dixiejarhead,
If you like, send me your address and I'll send you a box (no charge) of Barnaul .308 140 gr. soft point (Russian, steel case berdan) to test. I've personally shot a good bit though my FALs with good results and I've received satisfactory reports from coyote and antelope hunters who were satisfied with the soft point.
I've been to many of the Russian factories and I do favor Barnaul. Granted, Wolf has better advertisement, but it's mostly hype. They (Wolf) continue to purport their the best of the Russian, but actually source out a large amount of product from the other factories!
We do carry the soft point as a cheap alternative hunting cartidge, but as with the general concensus here, why bother with a Russian steel case fmj when there is excellent surplus available.
