View Full Version : Correct "G1" style flashider for Argy FAL?

Hello all,

I have one of the original pre-89/Drug Czar Bennet-ban Argy FALs that ARMSCORP brought in.

It is one of the "factory rebuilds" they offered at the time; basically a G1-looking barrel with no threaded flash-hider, just the "bayo lug" a la G1 barrel.

So far, I have only been able to use an Argy FAL bayo - the hilt itself has 2 prongs of a flashider while the actual bayo blade serves as the "3rd prong".

I tried a G1 slip-on-and-rotate flash-hider from DSA - no luck. IIRC, the barrel portion of the Argie extended a bit too far inside the flash-hider interior to allow the hider to "twist-lock" on to the barrel bayo lug.

Any suggestions as to a source for the CORRECT G1-style flash-hider for my Argy would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
Steve in Pittsburgh

Like Windy said over on that other board, bayonet is the only flash hider for that one. Belgian M1 (I think) and the early Izzy were the same way.

As you have already discovered, the barrel lug is placed differently on the G1s versus the "standard" lugged plain muzzle barrels. No flashhider was ever fielded for these barrels, as mentioned the pronged type A bayonet served that purpose, however clumsily !!
The Venezuelans did opt for a standard lugged barrel with FH threads added by FN and used a unique and nifty little pronged FH that is very effective. Moses here on the board makes superbly machined replicas. The Rhodesians sometimes threaded plain barrels and used the standard combo device. Most of theirs were probably G1s, but I'm quite sure they used their share of standard plain barrels as well !!!
In either event, you would of course have to thread your barrel. With nice unmolested plain muzzle barrels getting quite scarce and pricey, that might not be the best idea, IMHO, especially on a preban

BTW, I have some copies of the '89 Armscorp brochure which shows your rifle ( among others ) and also copies of the later series FMAP FAL op manual. If you'd like copies, send me a PM !
