Another really-late-to-the-party post...
Moons ago, when I was working uncertain paydays and had to focus on saving our home, there were a boatload of beater-grade South African and/or Rhodesian FAL kits on the market for a reasonable cost.
Well, reasonable was relative to ones income, but anyway, I had to pass.
Now that I have some semblance of a real job, I have to ask if there is any of these beater SA/Rhody FAL kits still around?
Thanks all!

Still the best place to keep an eye on is the Marketplace

Watch the "Marketplace" like a hawk watches for a mouse. 2 turned up in the last couple days. When one floats up, do not waste time, post "I'll take it" or it will be gone. I got a like new select grade R1 from Harlan about 7? years ago, and it is the finest rifle I own. The more paint the better.

Guess I will have to watch the marketplace - but it is great to discover that every now and then a Rhodesian or South African kit comes up.
I know it sounds strange, but I don't want a "pretty" FAL. Last thing I want is another gun that I have to fret over leaving fingerprints on the finish, or a spec of dirt on it, or if the mags bang against it in the travel case.
Heck, I was half tempted to offer to trade a Garand for ANY kind of FAL in West PA, just so I wouldn't have that monetary/emotional attachment to it.
Thanks!

I don't know about everyone else, but I don't think that's strange. That's just the way I like 'em. They're not supposed to be pretty, they just need to work.
