Recently I bought 100 rounds of Hirtenberger
ammunition, in 20 rnd original packaging,
marked on the outside 7.62x51 mm Ball and
S-S.
The bullet-tips have all been marked a dark
brown come move color. The base is stamped
H-P and 7.62x51.
My question is - what exactly ist this ?
I thought NATO color code for .30 call ball
ammo was no color ?
I have plenty of genuine 7.62x51 mm Hirtenberger tracer ammunition - this is
correctly coloured red on the tip.
So my quetions are:
- Does Hirtenberger really use purple/brown
on .30 cal ball ammunition bullet tips ?
- If yes - why doesn't anyone else do so ?
- Does S-S meen subsonic or is this just some
kind of lot code (the tracer has no such
marking but an identical packaging...).
- Does Hirtenberger use nail varnish on
bullet tips (it sure looks like it).
Thanks for any replies,
