I was debating on scoping my Polytech but have noticed that the set screw for the stripper clip guide looks like it's a pin and not a screw. Are they all like this? Do I have to drill out the pin and tap the hole? Advice welcome. TIA.

The clip guide is held by a pin on any M1A I've seen. Drive the pin after removing the bolt, and slide the clip guide to the right being careful not to damage anything.

Drive the pin from inside the receiver out. This way if there is a problem it won't interfere with movement of the bolt. Clip guide out to right as stated above. No need to thread anything.
Smith, Sadlak or A.R.M.S. Mount recommended.

Thank you very much for the replies and the advice. I will take it out this weekend. I'm thinking the SMith mount and Shephard P-1 scope is what I
want. Lee
