types of blanks?

Are there different types of blanks for 223,308? I've heard of "salute" blanks and grenade launching blanks. I assume the difference is the amount of powder? I have one of those soda can launchers that uses blanks to launch the can. The cans are getting shredded with the 223 blanks I have(too much powder?) I was hoping to try it on my FAL, but I'm affraid of what might happen with the wrong blanks. Anyone know a reasonable source for the type of blanks needed for this can launcher?

The only true grenade launching blanks I've
seen were machined from solid aluminum.

That way, they could stand the high pressure
without case head separation etc.

Firing to many genuine rifle grenades tends
to ruin your assault rifle.
