Went to the range today and shot some handloads, today was testing for OAL accuracy variance.
Loaded 20 rounds in groups of 4 with starting OAL of 3.29 to 3.34.
i am using 165gr Hornady SST with a Lee Factory crimp, pushed by 49gr of IMR4064 with a CCI large rifle primer out of Winchester Brass.
My short loads grouped about 3 inches at 100 yards, they just got tighter and tighter the longer i made them. Had a 3 shot group of 7/16" with an OAL of 3.33 the 3.34 was good (a group of 2 that were on top of each other and 2 that were high/low) and the 3.32 was good also (but not better). Very happy with my $225 dollar savage (bought used).
