I was case micing some SA ammo for a friend today. It doesn't chamber well in his FAL. It is oversized at 1.633. So I decided to check some other surplus 7.62X51 ammo as a curiousity thing.
Spanish 1.631
RG 1.630
Port. 1.630
Czech 1.631
SA 1.633
TZ80 1.624-28 !!!

Take a 1.6355 NATO chamber - 1.624 = .0115 !
Can you say potential case head separation.
I shot some in my M1A a while ago. Either I got lucky or it is actually very good brass. This stuff will stay in my tighter chambered rifles. In fact, I may take the time to weed out the really undersized ones. Just a heads up on the TZ and the SA (if you have a tight chamber).

That SA would be just a bit snug in my Fal as well.

The TZ is a little scary. From what I have read, the nato ammo is usually with in spec far more often than the commercial.

My latest batch of RG also mics at 1.630

Our FAL rifle kits have probably been headspaced w/ a civilain .308 gauge.

7.62x51 headspace is a bit more generous, allowing for fouling and adverse conditions.
