Can be hit or miss. One I had wouldn't fit any uppers other than the one that came on it. If it is a bargain... Oly will remanufacture it for, a few years ago price, $100. I don't believe that to be a common problem though.

All the Stop Sign lowers I've ever dealt with were top notch in terms of quality.

I have an old stop sign Oly pre ban that has the annoying selector block sticking out on the selector switch side. Only the upper it came with will fit it but it is reliable and looks good. Had it for a while with no complaints.
Thought about grinding that block off several times.

Could'nt figure out what a "stop sign" Oly was. Yep! it do look like a stop sign, now you mention it. ;)
Had one for 10 or 12 years and no problems at all.

Does anyone know the configuation that was used in the late '80's
A1 ? A2 ? 20" or carbine lenght
Some say some OLY's were seen with 11.5" barrels and 5.5" FH similar to the MX177....
Any help with this ???
Thanks

I picked up a kit at their shop in 83 while stationed at Ft Lewis. My configuration was like the XM-177. CAR-15 is what was on the receiver IIRC (could be wrong). The barrel was 11.5 and heavy.
My upper was the A1 configuration. There were about 6 or 7 of us from work that went up that day. We were allowed to pretty much to pick our own configuartion from what was available.
None of us ever had any problems. However, a civilian friend bought one about a year late and had nothing but problems. Oly tried to make it right, but George eventually got his money back.
Sorry I ever got rid of my.
Just remembered, they were still using SGW (Schutzen Gun Works). I can't remember if that was on the receiver instead of Olympic Arms. Might have been SGW by Olymbic Arms or Olympic Arms by SGW. Too much rum under the bridge.

I'll trade any kind of lower you want for one of the SGW lowers.

I have a pre-stop sign oly...an XM-177E2 made by Frankford Arsenal (under 500 serial #) with the lower made by "SGW OLY WA USA". 11.5" barrel w/ a 5.5" flash supressor, collapsible stock and LM marked A1 upper.
Never had a stop, hiccup or hitch with the many, many mixed rounds sent downrange.
It shows it's honest wear but it's a handy, accurate and relaible piece.
