This is a mod. that you have to decide to do before you mt. barrel. It requires a little machine work so unless you have access to a lathe you should have a gunsmith do it.--------At the breeching end of barrel just forward of threads is the shoulder and the Knoxform. The shoulder is the part of the barrel that seats against the breachface of receiver. The Knoxform is just forward of the shoulder, this is the largest dia. of the barrel with the two milled flats.Measure .300 from the shoulder forward and make a mark. Now go to the forward edge of the Knoxform and and start cutting. You want to cut from start of Knoxform to your mark- should be about .580 from edge to mark. Cut down to major barrel dia. which is about 1.090. What we want to do remove .580 of the Knoxform and leave a shoulder .300 wide. This allows the lite barrel handguards and mount to fit. Don't start cleaning up yet we're not done. Look at the gas block--the hole for the handguard screw needs to be counterbored. Use 7/16 CB with .187 pilot--CB .100 deep--bothsides. Now take handguards and install one. See that lip on the front and top edge that is hitting on forward part of gas block--it needs to be trimmed back--as you fit handguards you will see what needs to be removed. Thats it. Post another message if you have any questions.
