As I amass all of my parts to farm out my rifles to the smiths, I got my DSA para sight for the shorty I am building. It fits very loosley in the notch on the receiver, and there is play in every direction. If I tighten the windage screws, it locks up, but it slightly rotates the sight. I called DSA and they said this is normal (!) and that I can shim it. ????

I knew I could shim it, and I guess I will, or the smith will. Is that what you all do? Were the dimensions of the grove on a para receiver slightly smaller and shallower than on a regular rifle? What gives? Is this just crappy production or normal?

The problem is with whoever subbed to make these sights for DSA. I've seen one and it went back because it was loose like you describe.

Real Belgian Para sights are not loose.

unfortunately, the para sights are not a very good fit. And being soft aluminum, they really can't be fixed. The best I'v found is to hold the sight down in the dovetail and don't torque the screws too tight. Replace the supplied screws with the correct ones with serrations on the inside to match the spring, or don't use the spring. Don't tighten as much as a normal sight - they can't handle the torque. Once in place, they are secure and once zeroed, you won't be doing any windage adjustments, so it should be fine. If anyone has steel para sights for sale, e-mail me please!

I had the same problem.

I ended up pinging the 2 dovetails of the rear sight with a punch. This made it tight, but for how long time will tell.
