My inch piston is longer than my metric by about 3/64 of an inch. I see no differences with the gas tube. The inch an metric pistons measure the same diameters. The inch gas plug and gas block are not the same as the metric. The inch gas plug is shorter than the metric. The inch piston installed in a metric gun pushes slightly on the bolt carrier and may effect proper function. Metric gas pistons are easy to come by and I would suggest a trade or purchase. What is the condition of your piston.

Thanks for the reply,Stg Rock.I am building a C2/A2 Canadian heavy barrel, I am busy tracking down parts. I have two r1 kits that Im using for spare parts on my Izzy heavy barrel and I
was just wondering what parts are interchangable, like bolt carriers and gas tubes etc.Because inch parts are hard to find
and alot more expensive.Anything else you can tell me would be great.

What parts do you need to complete your inch gun and are you building it on an inch receiver.

The venting holes on an inch pattern are at 3 and 9 o'clock, while the metric are at 4 and 8. They correspond to the holes in the handguards.
but for all practical purposes, yes they are interchangeable.
