View Full Version : 23 sets of FAL handguards - 50% to the board

W.E.G.
December 20, 2007, 15:05
current high bidder at $220 is M829A3 (http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=2128190#post2128190)

23 sets of FAL handguards

Plus 4 left-panel orphans

Bidding starts at $100.

Half of the proceeds of this auction will be donated to the FAL-Files.
The half-portion will simply be donated. The half-portion will not be “credited” to the buyer for any purpose such as bronze/silver/gold/ platinum “contributor” status.

This auction closes at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 14, 2008.

Your bid must appear in this thread to be counted.

The high-bidder will be notified by me on January 14, 2008, via Personal Message, of the mailing address for payment.

The high-bidder must deliver payment to me by noon on January 25, 2008.
Otherwise, the next-highest bidder will be offered the handguards at the price of his last bid.
Any late payments will be returned to the sender.

Payment must be by U.S. Postal Service money order. No exceptions.

The handguards will be shipped by me to the buyer within 4 calendar days of my receipt of payment.

Delivery to the buyer will be via USPS Priority Mail.
I will pay all shipping costs, and I will insure the package for 150% of the purchase price.
I may ship in two or more boxes at my discretion. Multiple boxes will be shipped on the same date, and from the same post office location. Multiple boxes may not be received by the buyer on the same day.

Buyer will get a $30 discount on his offered bid if he can pick the handguards up in person at a mutually-convenient location in Arlington County, Fairfax County, or City of Alexandria (Virginia) within 7 days of the close of the auction. A cash transaction can take place at the same time if you are picking the stuff up in person.

These are not beautiful pieces.
Condition of the handguards is as pictured in the photos
There are three photos of each set of handguards – one with the slabs laid flat, one with the set together from above, and another with the set together from the bottom.

The photos appear in the second post to this thread.
The photos are hosted on Photobucket.com
This is HIGH-BANDWIDTH photo post. If you are on a dialup, go make a sandwich.
If you fancy the photos, save them to your own computer, as the photos will be removed from the Photobucket server at the conclusion of this auction.
The buyer has permission to use my photos for his personal benefit (such as advertising for re-sale of the handguards). However, the buyer will not be able to use my Photobucket host.

Sets may be comprised of mis-matched orphans
Each set has a handguard screw
The 5 orphans do not have a screw

Hardware may not be original, or “correct.”

No parts are U.S. manufactured.

All wood sets have been cleaned in a DISHWASHER.
All wood sets are substantially devoid of all finish, and all cosmoline.
Expect cracks. Some small, some larger.
Some cracks may have been “repaired” with super-glue.
The “repairs” are experimental, and are not guaranteed.

The handguards will be shipped with the respective numbers as appear in the photos affixed to each respective set by a paper strap.

All items sold as-is. No refunds.

I will not break up the lot to sell individual sets.
You buy it all, or you get nothing.

I will not answer Personal Message inquiries, email inquiries, telephone calls, or smoke signals about this auction prior to the closing date.

If you have a question, post it to this thread.
I gave the handguard sets numbers for a reason
Please DO NOT copy this original post, or any of the photos in any replies to this thread.
If you have a question about a particular handguard set, post your question, and refer to it by number.

Sets 1-5 are plastic/synthetic/whatever, and have no metal forepiece.

Set 7 is definitely a half&half bipod/non-bipod orphan mix

Well shizit, I won't be in CONUS in time for final bid or payment due date. Whoever wins I'll give you $25 shipped for set #4, so keep that in mind.

Abominog, I'll make whatever allowances are necessary for you to participate in this auction if you would like to do so.

I only put all those draconian conditions on it in case some guy I never heard of wins the auction, and then disappears to be never heard from again. I trust you will not be incommunicado for an extended period of time?

That's great of you!

Yes, I'll largely be out of touch till about 20 Jan. I think. Don't know for sure.

I'll go $150 for now.

I'll go $150 for now. ..... tutt tutt do I not recall reading a thread dedicated to the accumulation of assorted FAL related parts and accessories....was not the starter of that thread in a very negative frame of mind over the present build up of said items....:? :?

Happy biding mate... ;)

I'll bid $165.

And, even though he probably doesn't need it, I'll save #4 @ $25 shipped to Abominog in the event I am meritorious.

M829A3, feel to contact me about the non-PB cut HG's if I am meritorious, I'll give you the first pick.

If I'm a loser, I'll give $25 shipped for the two middle(Indian)orphans from whomever wins.

I ain't kiddin' either.

I want to thank a number of you for behaviour and thoughtfulness beyond expectation.

Gary, for being so generous to FAL Files, our home. Also for offering to give me leeway to bid when I didn't have computer access.

So many of you guys who- for whatever reason- jumped on, and kept up, the kind offer to sell me the set I wanted.

And finally to Pete for (as I now see) being effectively the pimp and buying these all up, and then offering them off to those who've expressed interest in certain parts/ HG sets.

Show me another interest group (on-line or off-line) that will happen!

Thanks guys!
