View Full Version : Bayonets: what does a FAL look like?
March 27, 2001, 12:54
I've never seen any pictures of FALs with bayonets fixed, but I have seen a few sites with bayonets for sale. Is the FAL bayonet lug on top of the barrel like the CETME, or under like the AR 15?

It depends on which FAL variant you're looking at. The Argentine FAL's had a byonet lug on the barrel somewhat behind the sightbase/gasblock. The Imbel FAL kits in the group buy have bayonets with a round, hollow handle that slips over, and latchs onto, the combo muzzle device.
Kevin Adams can probably put up pictures of most of the variants. If we ask him nicely...

I'm pretty new to this FAL game. I just got my FAL 2 weeks ago, had an absolute blast shooting it. It's an Austrian STG-58. What about the bayonet lug there?

I posted a pic of my C1A1 a while back. Same style bayonet and mount as Brit and Aussie L1A1's. http://www.fnfal.com/forums/Forum8/HTML/000083.html
