I know there has been an answer to this a few weeks back..but I can't find it..

I took my L1A1 out today with the SUIT on it. When I came home to clean it, I noticed the part the sight mounts to is now loose, not the bracket. How can I get this to be tight again?

Thanks!

Easy as pie, You have the early taller mount that was reknown for getting loose fast due to soft rivets. What you need to do is ever so carefully drill out the rivets and replace them with countersunk machine screws going to some nuts that you shave down to fit between the mount and the cover. Later mounts were better made and did not have this problem BUT were also shorter and harder to adapt to metric rifles due to the non folding metric sights getting in the way. If you want to simply trade your early mount for a late one let me know, I have a buddy with a nice late mount that want's an early one so he can use his metric sight on his STG kit gun. I hope this helps.
