View Full Version : Maintenance: cleaning the gas port

The gas port is not completely blocked, but it is blocked enough to make me fire the gun on 2+1/2. It was completely blocked when I bought the parts kit and I managed to get it unblocked enough to fire on 3 and cycle. Now through a little use, the pressure required is gradually increasing. What's the best way to de-foul the port? I tried using a thin steel wire and bore solvent going through the gas plug before with marginal results. I want something that is more thorough if possible...

Remove front sight, fixing plate & spring. There will be a small hole to the rear of the threaded sight hole. Find a rod or drill bit of .093 diameter or less and clean the port out. Hole goes all the way into the barrel.
PS: I sell 130pg manuals that cover FAL function & complete disassembly for $17.75 shipped.

Gr8Scott:
You might want to try to pick up an FN "Combo Tool" has ream for the gas port on it.
Sorry, I don't have any extras at the moment.

Will the inch combo tool also work on the metric guns?
