Here a match peep sight I'm working on for the FAL. This is just a proof of concept prototype, but you get the Idea.

And to go with it a match bbl.

The sight in question is a Williams FoolProof with an FAL adapter that I made. I am working on a production version. The final version will be one piece (plus sight bridge) and mount on the right side of the receiver to clear all types of FAL takedown levers. price will probably be in the $70-80 but I won't know for sure until the design is finalized.

How about turning some L2/C2 Heavy barrels!

I'll look into this. Right now as far as bbls go, I'm looking at making a new gas block to allow for a heavier barrel full length. New sight and trigger group will be first, though.
I'll keep everyone posted.

I don't suppose that you have looked into using a sight that mounts from the left, like the Lyman sight for the Springfield? I love the sight, and I will buy one when they come out, but I'm thinking "nose whack" here...
Just a thought from an interested party!

The problem with a sight that mounts on the left side of the receiver is that it can interfere with the takedown lever of certain FAL versions (like the STG-58). Tne final design mounts on the right side of the receiver and is fairly trim. If you are worried about protruding knobs, you could use a FoolProof without target knobs.

The second prototype is done. Sight now mounts on the right. More info at http://www.guntech.com/fn/sight2.html
