Cool folder....!!

Of what origin is that folding buttstock?

That one is from DSA, they have some that ACE LTD. makes. I have one of the Gun Parts sets, but it wasn't as nice cosmetically.

This is probably a stoopid question, but how does the stock accomodate the recoil spring when it folds...?

That is definitely one of the top EBR's [evil black rifle]....

In addition to the knuckle and folding BS, you replace the bolt carrier, bodycover, and recoil springs. Everything now fits under the bodycover on an integral guide-rod. Pretty sano,if you ask me.

Thanks, Ted.

The first recoil springs I put in were not strong enough. I might have to stretch them out a bit. They wouldn't close the carrier all the way, couldn't figure it out, thought the extractor was smacking something. I replaced them with my other set and it works like a charm. :D

The test will be when I go out and fire it.

Another thing I did was replace the SAR's T/H/S with a STG58 set, (remember, pre-ban, I can use them in this rifle) and achieved a MUCH better trigger pull. The original SAR set had a terrible pull.

Stretching springs actually may loosen them. Clipping a few coils will actually stiffen them. The math is cranky, but any ME can tell you that spring rate varies inversely to length. There's some other crunching, but this is essentially true. And VERY simplified.

Actual variables:
Length
Major coil diameter
Minor coil diameter
some fudge factors
4th power. 2d power, where's my PE exam references!

Try clipping off a few (few!) coils and see what happens. WECSOG rules, you know! Don't forget to grind the last coil flat, carefully. Heat will destroy the spring. Using a cutoff wheel helps.

It looks really good. :)

Nice para, I think that's the future of my pre-ban also. Is that a ltwt. lower? Good idea with the Steyr H/T/S.

WARNING: It's probably just the camera angle, but when folded, it looks like the lower stock tube "invades" the trigger guard area. The original 50.6x paras could be fired with the stock folded.

Let me take this opportunity to publicly state that no offense was intended to Id's folder when referring to type 3 receivers as "butt ugly" in another post. I most humbly apologize for any loss of sleep I have caused the afore mentioned folder, it is welcome in my gun safe anytime. ;)

Here is a picture of my folders.

Notice the difference between the FN stock and the DSA one. Both do "interfer" with the "trigger" area, but mine can fire folded, and I'm sure the converted SAR-48 can too.
