View Full Version : FAC L1A1 kit

Here are a couple pics (I hope) of my FAC L1A1 hand select kit. Matching numbers, wood is very good, at least to me. It would be tough for me to be any happier with it!
These pics really don't do the kit justice. These were taken after slight degreasing session, looks much better now. Should make a nice rifle if I can ever afford (read: talk my wife into letting me buy) a receiver!

Wood filler, never! http://www.fnfal.com/forums/wink.gif I had a Mosin Nagant redone by a gun smith locally. I refinished the stock and when I took the stock to him he said, " I see you have left the honorable dents in the stock". So, I took that to mean that "if the dents and dings could talk, what a story thay could tell".
Just my story. Kit looks great. But about those dent and dings. http://www.fnfal.com/forums/biggrin.gif

As far as dents and dings go, I don't think there are many that won't steam out. The ones that are still there just add a little character! All in all, with a little TLC, it sure beats paying 200 bucks for DSA's Ironwood! At least to me, although I REALLY like the looks of the Ironwood furniture, just don't like the price!

The TSP treatment worked alright with mine. I then followed it with tub and tile cleaner and then easy off. Havent done much with the dents but I done an Enfield with a tea pot and just held it over the steam and it done wonders.

You have a New Zealand Carrying Handle on that baby! Could you email me your serial number and I will be able to confirm the details about your rifle.
