Since I got the sight adjustment tool from GPG y'all recommended on the thread I started earlier, I took the Polish Underfolder to the range today and discovered it shoots way left. I had to adjust the front sight post almost over to the left "ear" of the front site in order to get it to center on the target. Odd. The front site tower does not appear to be bent, and the rear sight seems centered ok. I'm a bit puzzled by this. Barrel does not seem bent either.

Is it supposed to shoot to the left because it's a communist gun?

newfalguy-
You're right. Looking at it closer it does appear that the front sight tower is canted slightly to the right.

had the same problem. Took it to my gunsmith. He proceeded to smack it with a plastic hammer until the front sight base was aligned with the gas block. Problem was fixed. No drilling or pins. No damage either.

yes, there was damage.

think about it.

the sight is held in by 2 pins.

if you move the base after pins are installed, either the pins give, or their channels give.

and if he did it with a plastic hammer, then its will come loose a again.

A properly fitted sight block should require a lot more force than a plastic hammer (I use an air hammer or a 12 ton press)

remove sight, solder in holes, weld in holes, or swage holes and remount, redrill, and /or use oversize pins

One of my SAR-1s had the same issue so I bought a windage adjustible rear site so the front could stay close to center between the front wings. If your front site/ base is now centered to your satisfaction I would consider finding some method to simply keep it there. Such as a small tack weld on the under side or a peen with a punch or something. The site sure as heck is not coming off and you just want it to not rotate, should not take much to prevent that. Go slow and think about it, not too much heat or force but hey, it is an AK.
