Nice Babes, must be a set of fraternal twins as I see some differences. Concieved at the same time, Born at the same time but of two seperate guns not from one that subsequently divided into two.

Bruce,
Springfield Armory supposedly imported 1500-3000 units....Early rifles were marked Colona,IL and later rifles had Genesco, IL on the right side of the reciver...Early rifles had threaded bbls with a fake flash supp like the one on AR-45ACP's rifle...Later rifles came with a non threaded bbl and had a slip over fake flash hider(looks better than the earlier version)held on by a slotted set screw....There is a rifle for sale for 1300 and comes with a bipod..look on the for sale board...Good luck!

AR-45ACP,
Your slings are on backwards. The metal should be inboard so contact won't clang against anything.

Correction,...per Springfield's Catalog:

The SAR 4800 .308 caliber/7.62mm with 21" bbl has a 1:12 RH four groove

The SAR 4800 2.23 caliber/5.56mm with 18" bbl has a 1:10 RH six-groove

Richard, I put them on backwards so they don't clang against the rifle and scratch up the finish.

Trojan,Thanks for the info. You would think that the ss109 ammo would have performed a little better than it did considering that a 1:9 or faster is recomended for that type of ammo,Oh well atleast it works well out of my AR

A nice pair 45/ACP.

My .223 FAL is my favorite too. I wish the pictures on my little web site could do more justice to the finish George Gouger put on it.

What type of carry handle do you have on the 7.62, and where did you get it?

Actually it is a Israeli HB carry handle that has been twisted 180 degrees.

I swapped this out when I put the DSA mount on, as anyone who has a mount and a standard carry handle knows that combo equals bleeding knuckles.

I see that your .223 has the flared style muzzle attachment. Mine has the straight traditional AR look alike muzzle attachment. I'm thinking of putting something else on it to protect the crown. There is a small set screw on the bottom. I do not want to do any irreparable damage to this. What is the next step in removing the old faux attachment? I don't want to make an unsuccessful attempt and have a buggered barrel. TIA

P.S. How did you go about bending the Izzy HB carry handle, brute force or some heat application? I like it a lot.

TunaSandwich, That Izzy carry handle isnt bent. Its just on backwards.

Now why would you want to remove that clever looking birdcage muzzle device from your .223 FAL? Are we thinking of replacing it with a post-ban legal Moses style break or something like that...Hmmmmmm??????

Tuna, I don't know how the later fake FH were installed or how you would get aeay with replacing without a refinish anyway so I personally would send it out and have it done.

On the carry handle you put the loop end in a vise or other device, heat stem near loop quickly with oxy/ace or mapp gas as with propane you risk loosing the plastic handle :( then when red twist handle 180 degrees and voila.DSA has HB handles new $5

FLC, the HB handle is twisted. If you just put it on backwards it will not fold down against the reciever and sticks just about straight out.
