Excellent internals $89 Tapco Imbel kit, $172 FAC Imbel receiver, $19 CAI HTS, $9 DSA Brake, $6 PG, $0.75 mag baseplate, $2.50 mag follower.
A nice , near new condition US complaint FAL for under $300. Those were the good old days.

Among the thousands of things I forget these days, I remember this. I was not even a member here (as one can easily see). I was linked to this thread by a good friend who had joined already. I resisted for a few more years, but finally succumbed.
Soft market. Build price has doubled and one can scarcely recover the material cost if sold, never mind build labor. Best keep all but the one I got on the block. Wouldn't sell it if I did not "need" a mill. lol

Every thing is so so so very expensive. Common folks can't afford nice FALs any more. Most are usually about $1,000 to $2,500, depending on so many factors.
The government is largely to blame for this by turning off the supply through importation ban, and taxing the hell out of the firearms industry.
Ammo is another thing to bitch about. 7.62mm NATO prices are so unrealistic. There must be an explanation why a 1,000 round of goof foreign ammo should rise from a little over $100 to nearly $500, and American made ammo is going for $700 for a 1,000.
Some thing is very wrong. Cry My Beloved Country.

I maybe have this beat with one I am GOING to build this summer thanks to storing of parts.
1 TAPCO $99 kit
1 DCI receiver I traded another $99 kit to get (add $10 shipping to this)
HTS from the day that I believe cost $45
Penguin Furniture that were seconds due to swirl marks $30
Total $283.00

Do you folks feel that there is a deliberate effort to make things so very expensive so that folks will stop shooting for the fun of it, and can no longer afford firearms and ammo?
