Here's a picture of a beautiful original Type "af". Notice the differences in the butt stock and muzzle device attachment.

There's a LOT to learn about the history of the G1s. Try the search engine and search for "G1*". You have to type in the * because the search engine will not accept two characters.

If you are like me you will be reading for hours.

Oh, and when you use the search engine be sure to select the day and "older" so you can go way back to the beginning.

One more thing. An StG is basically a G1 with a different muzzle device.

Do a search under my posts Davesrb. There is a thread where I asked for Serial number information that will answer all your questions. Falcon began my G1 education with that thread.. (Will someone please tell me how to link to a thread?!)
