Hey Aimed Fire,
That is very cool. Is that a parts kit w/ American wood? If so, that is the nicest, most beautiful parts gun I have ever seen.

Good golly, Ms Molly!
where did you get your wood furniture? I think I've seen the way I want my kit to come out. Derek H., you may have to charge extra to fit it if avail........

it is better to be silent and thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt.
I'm pretty sure Rich@CGW did it.

Sorry for the mis-impression all. That is not my gun. I WISH! I was only trying to help out Darren with his pic posting problems. Refer all compliments to Darren.
PS: please don't quote pictures it only slows down page loading and hogs bandwidth for the server here. No one wants that now do they?

Just thought I'd add that I think that is a Canadian C1A1. See the cut back dust cover and stripper clip guide? Inch folding handle? Lettering on the upper reads: Fz 8A7,62

Not an Inch model, though it has some of the features found on an inch. But if you will notice, the charging handle rail is not cut back, the folding inch handle has been modified for a metric receiver. Also note the trigger, and the pistol grip, selector has been modified to fit metric lower. If I remember correctly Rich at CGW built this rifle for Darren, and as usual did an outstanding job. What we(me) wants to know is, where did the stocks come from? That has to be the best looking MBR I've ever seen.

I also saved that photo a few months back, and it's Ironwood furniture, metric with Canadian stripper top cover modified to fit (tabs taken off). This is why all the gnashing of teeth about when and IF Ironwood actually tools up to production mode( rather than Pantograph)

Yes sirs, It is ideed an Rich@CGW creation. The only thing I regret doing is shortening the barrel just because it doesn't look right. I don't think the DSA brake is handsome either. I did however have a DSA rifle that exhibited far less recoil than a standard 50.63 hence my choice for this rifle. The wood is from ironwood. The handguards are much thinner than a typical C1 and there are no metal over asbestos heat shields over the gas block as on the C1. Just wood in contact with the barrel. I haven't really heated these babies up to see if it makes a difference. The ironwood is claro walnut, finished with a coat of cherry stain that was quickly wiped off. Then came numerous coats of spar helmsman polyurethane lightly sanded b/t doses. It actually came out like glass. I quickly decided this didn't quite look right on an FAL so I sprayed some semi-gloss on, then while still tacky, sprayed some more on at a greater distance giving it a matte look.
I just bought one of the recently produced wood humpbacks and will try something a little different, send the rifle to Rich and will post a pic here.
Isn't it strange how cool a C1 dust cover makes a type III look so damn good? It looks better than on a type I C1A1. I guess its all the straight lines. The L1A1 selector came from Larry/FN. He will send you a modified one for approx $35. Expensive, but well worth it. Folding handle came from DSA. DSA internals.
