Talking from very old knowledge, I seem to remember these are a direct bolt-on.

Thanks for the reply. They look shorter to me, will they work with a standard length gas system, or just carbine / para length?

I'm pulling a post out of my head that I read in 2001 about the FNC handguards. I've just spent 20 minutes going through my archives and all I've got about the FNC involves the registered auto sear conversion. Will have to rely on somebody else with better or more recent knowledge.

I think I could perform any mod to make it fit a little more snug, but will this type of handguard fit a standard length gas system, or is it too short and will only be suitalbe for para length gas systems? The answer to this question will determine which type of handguard I buy from one of two sellers here on the files, please help if you know the answer.

para gas systems are the same length as rifle gas systems.
i don't think the short gas system was a military issue thing, just something worked up for aftermarket.
