If I remember correctly, there is a leather washer. It often is compressed and when you put the butt stock back on will allow it to wobble. Might consider building a new washer to prevent this.

Thanks all! Should the leather be Connolley hides? I need a Parker-Hale screwdriver. Craftsman just 'wouldn't do' you know. Ahem, harrumph.

For the love of God, get the foreend off first.

The leather washer sits on top of the bolt - the purpose is to muffle the brass oil bottle rattling around in the butt trap. Reinstall at your discretion. (Springfield Sporters sells surplus ones, though they're dried out.)

Diomed, the handguards upper and lower were the first to go looking for interesting marks. As we all do with milsurps. I have to ask, whar is your irrational fear of youth based upon your sig line? The inquiring minds of the falfiles want to know. Well, at least as much as one in fear would tell, lol. :shades:

byker, thanks for the killer link! All questions asked and answered.

Well, not the handguards per se, but the front stock. Many a front end has been ruined by someone trying to remove the butt without taking off the stock.

To answer your question, I fear teenagers. More accurately, "hate and loathe". Nothing good ever comes of teenagers. :p

Hey now, I resemble that remark for about 5 more months ;)
