Well, went to the range again today and pounded 120 more rounds through the Williams G1. That makes 320 rounds through the gun in 2 weeks and the receiver is still hanging in there. Locking shoulder is tight and the ejector block pins are tight. I had one faiure to eject. Don't know why.

I can now safely say that the Tapco Sleeved muzzle thingy is definently changing the point of impact by a whole lot. Shot 5 rounds at a target 100yards away with the muzzle thingy attached and never saw a hole in the target. Removed the muzzle thingy and low and behold, a hole appeared in the target. Mine is offset so I am going to call Tapco tomorrow and see can I get another one.
Now if I can get my eyes to seeing the rear site and front site and target at the same time, I think the gun will group very well. I will probably borrow a scope from one of my other FALS and see how well it will group!

Love the Williams G1.

BTW: "Williams G1" is my name for my gun. Williams Arms has nothing to do with me or the gun other than I am using their receiver. Which I am very please with!

Nut, I'm glad yours is working out. I'm sending my Gen I Williams back for replacement because of the loose locking shoulder problem. I was extremely happy that they would disassemble and rebuild the front end for me. That gives me considerable peace of mind. Oh well, pioneers wear arrow shirts sometimes.

Gary,
Good news...glad to hear it. My Williams R1 is flawless in the operations department now. I have put just over 500 rounds thru her and she just purrs. ;) I believe that Dwight and George got this one right.
Thanks guys for a neat receiver!

Its not the offset in the flashider thats causing the problem, its the fact you have a loose piece of metal hanging on the end of your barrel. If you weld it on you might do better, but the q/d isn't great for groups. Or the finish.

Woodie,
I don't think my sleeved muzzle thingy is loose. It snaps on tight. I will check it an see. I beleive the problem is the offset tube causing the gases not to exit the tube evenly. This would cause the bullet to deflect in an odd pattern.

However, you may be right. I really don't know how to tell if that is the problem or not.
Interesting!

Jim,
Glad to hear that yours is working OK also. I am glad I wated till the got most of the major bugs worked out.

Got to thinking the other day and I am going to build a STG as I don't have one. I am going to build it on another Williams. I assume the STGs used a type one receiver.

Hope to see ya in November!

If you drilled a few holes in your muzzle thingy to correct the gas/accuracy phenominon, would you drill them toward the butt end of the thingy or toward the muzzle end? Or Both? Or in the middle? Thank you for your expertise!
