Found some info on the net for DIY electronic bore cleaners and wanted to see if I could adopt it for speeding the cleaning of parts prior to wire brushing re-bluing.

Two D cells in series to give 3 volts.....Positive wired to steel screw driver tip....negative wired to the part that is to be cleaned.

Submerged the two ends in a Hardees cup with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar and 1 part amonia.....Bubble and gases..(In the cup..not me)

Parts come out and the crud just falls off. I was using it to loosen the crud prior to a refinish...it really loosens it up.

I did not use a Dremel for the project but DID spill blue solution in the side of my Dremel...Now it is drying.

As for the parts they cleaned nice and took a re-blue....sweet.

Eventually I will see how it does in a bore but for now it is another useful tool to have in the cupboard when re-finishing a part.

Cheers
