How much did I pay for that thing???? $30??
I feel like I ripped them off. I should send in another $20 to make up for this vaugely guiltly conscience I have.
Seriously it looks good and it fits on with no fuss. I will be taking it out to the range this weekend to zero in the new scope and I'll continue this review when I return.
So far so good!

I know how you feel. I got the scope mount for $30 and the scope & rings for $30.00 (6X32 compact). Very nice setup & VERY sturdy also.

don't know about their FAL scope mount, but their $10 AR 15 riser is a steal at that price. I was expecting a real POS, but was very pleasantly surprised. I may have to check the scope mount out...I'll have another piece to add to the collection here in a couple of days...I'll probably red dot this one, so I could use another mount.

I have a solution for anyone feeling guilty about the low price and high quality products.
Take an extra $20 out of your wallet now.
Look at it, then take a pencil and piece of paper and write... "Happy Birthday, from your friends at TAPCO".
Put this note on the $20 and stick it in your pocket.
Take out the $20 with the note several times a day and just look at it. This will make you feel good and when you see something you want to buy, or go to lunch, just say "thanks TAPCO", and enjoy yourself.
This is a good thing, and you deserve it.

Buddie:
That does it!! I was going to wait until my birthday before I spent the twenty dollar bill that has been collecting lint in my wallet, not now, not after this.
I've been wanting to stock up on your Inch magazines, and now I can do so without feeling guilty.
Thanks :D :D

Boy - you know TAPCO's got a hold on your wallet when even DWIGHT is excited about ordering from them - I figured Dwight would already have 1600 Titanium magazines sitting around and if he felt short, he'd have his guys make him some more right after they finished up that Titanium/Aluminum Ma Deuce they're working on for him..... :D

Ok, back from the range and all I can sat is KOOOL that thing really works well!
Scope (BEC 3-9x50mm) zeroed in very quickly and then came the test...
I shot about 200 rounds at a distance of 100 yards and the mount held it's zero like a champ. Shoulder firing the weapon I could consistantly keep 2"+/- groups and benched with sandbags in the 1" range!
The only thing negative I have to say is that the mount got dinged up by the spent rounds, not badly mind you but there are multiple brass colored impact marks by the ejection port.
Over-all: WOW!! $30 bucks!!
Thanks Tapco, you have a friend for life :)

Yeah mine looked real cool when I first put it on. Now that I have fired about 500 rounds with it mounted it looks like swiss cheese. Every ejected shell nails this thing. Hey Buddy its a great product, and
you cant come close to the price, but
what about the ejected shell thing? Any suggestions?

Every FAL made will "kiss" the e-port upon ejection. It's part of the character. Nothing Buddie did, or will do, changes that.
If you want, put a bit of electrical tape on the bodycover before firing. this will be your prophylactic for safe se...firing.

They are called "beauty Marks."

Personally, I like the brass kisses. They give your rifle character.

I read that some guys have stuck the plastic hook side (the 'cro') of velcro on their rifles. Seems like it'd work, but I'm confident that it'd be full of dog hair and grass clippings on my rifle.

Absolutely! My $99 (now $69) DSA mount also has beauty marks! Comes with the territory.

Here's my question...are the marks merely "kisses" (just discolorations like those found on a steel receiver) or are they gouges? (like those on my ARMS mount)
I believe DSA's scope mount is MIL anodized - doesn't that harden the aluminum surface to a higher value?
I love the fit of the ARMS mount but it's painted, not anodized and the brass didn't just "kiss" it - it beat the piss out of the ejection port. As in, dug divots out of and dented the aluminum material. I've been dremeling a radius into the ejection port in an effort to inprove ejection reliability.
So does the Tapco mount have a painted finish or an anodized one? Does this limit the amount the brass dings the mount? "Swiss cheese" sounds like physical damage to the surface finish of the mount. Kisses are just brass dings that you cannot catch a fingernail in.
What's the Tapco mount showing?
Thanks,
Alex

Re: brass kisses...my Tapco mount is showing physical damage,it will "catch a fingernail",but it's really nothing other than added character, no reliability issue I can see. Good product as is...thanks Buddie!

Yep, the dings are more than just surface discoloration. But hell, for 29.99 buy 2 and have one for when ya shoot and one for show :)

qwezxc12,
I'm abit confused with your reports of the problems with your ARMS mount.
I've been extremely happy with mine & they are not painted, but anodized. Also I get the brass kisses on mine but there's no gouging occuring.
I've never had any ejection problems on the 3 I have.
Sounds like there may be something else going on IMO.
Regards,
Talyn
