I just got my G-1 kit the other day and unpacked as quick as I got it. Disassembled and cleaned everything I could. Wood grip is so-so with repaired cracks where grip meets lower. Stock is so-so with repaired cracks where stock meets lower. Handguards were terrible! Same with bi-pod!
The bi-pod only had one good leg and the swivel was OK. the lower was quite good; all parts looked like new with just a little pitting and dents where upper meets lower and where the bolt strikes the lower.
The barrel bore looked great and the flash hider was fine; finish was worn but looked OK.
Bolt and bolt carrier had mismatched numbers but look fine. Firing pin, extractor all looked great. Gas piston/tube looked super!
Carry handle bad but might cleanup ok, cocking knob bad but arm is great. Locking shoulder Good
Now if only I could get the receiver stub off the barrel! (See my post under Barrel wrench earlier tonight).
All-in-all pretty good set of spare parts for my STG replica. Not sure I would use as a basis for building a gun from tho.
Worth the price? I can't really say but for spare parts I probably would have had to shell out quite a bit more that the 150.00 I spent at TAPCO for this.
BTW I ordered 5 mags to round out my collection 2 new and 3 used. The new were great but the used *yuk*, rusty, pitted just generally sucky. Luckily I have access to a blast cabinet and they cleaned up pretty well so I'm gonna coat 'em with Brownells Aluma Hyde II. But next time new only. :(
Buyer beware! I know TAPCO's add might look pretty tempting but there was some real junk mixed in with the good.
