Any loads specific for use in a carbine to get the most out of that extra length?

I don't know of any specific carbine loads but I would try powders that are on the slow end for .45 acp loads. Try powders like Blue Dot, HS-7, AA 7, etc., maybe even AA 9.

WHat about lighter bullets. slower powders combo? And being blow back, how will this affect the operation? Already fire shoots out the port...

I think the slower powders will still give higher vel. with lighter for caliber bullets. The longer barrel of the carbine gives more burn time before the bullet exits the barrel and pressure drops. I've never tried this with a .45 acp carbine but have loaded for a .44 mag lever action carbine. You can make a 180 gr. Sierra sizzle with a "shit ton" (I think thats the new proper term) of H110 or 296. I think the carbine will still function all right but the "fire breathing" will probably be worse. :uhoh: To stop the fire breathing use a faster powder, like 231, etc. You won't have the highest possible vel. but the vel. will still be respectable compared to a 5" pistol barrel.
