Out of curiosity, what was the asking price? Is it Chinese, Russian or Romanian?

If the price wasn't out of line (or by just a bit), I'd buy it and put a respectable stock back on it, and sell off the abomination to recoup some funds.

If he likes the stock, tho, and the rest of it looked good, I'd buy it. To each his own in regards to furniture.

I own an SKS as well as an AK. The ammo is still slightly cheaper than x51.

I don't remember what that SKS was, it was one of a trio of Tapconians, a couple AKs were decked out by the same artist, and they were presentable and in excellent condition.
Prolly $400 a piece.

Conspicuously absent since their appearance was an Imbel receivered Century L1A1 for $795, so maybe the Tapconalian dude traded them in on a real rifle.

It was prolly Vince.
