Got an itch for a short barrel, short gas FAL and acquired a DSA 11.5" barrel.

While fitting the gas block I noticed first thing that the gas block slides right on the barrel. At first I thought how lucky I was that I didn't have to press it on. Well with the pin in the gas block it wobbles side to side and the gas port does not line up completely.

With the pin installed, the gas block is just off the shoulder that it would normally rest against resulting in the gas port not being lined up. If I remove the pin and allow the gas block to rest against the shoulder the gas port is right on the money but the pin and handguard holes are a bit off.

Am I missing something here? Do I need a DSA gas block or do I just align the gas port with a drill bit and silver solder, then ream the pin and handguard screw holes and call it good?

Also does anyone know where the threads lie on the fake G1 flashhider DSA shows at 7 3/4"? I'm hoping I can use it to get to 16".
