Still learning, still practicing and have yet to seat a bullet, but I have a question:
How do you stop the powder grains from bouncing all over the bloody place when you dump a load of powder from the measure into the pan for weighing?
I have the RCBS Uniflow powder measure. Any sage advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I put my powder pan right up against the bottom of the drop tube then work the handle. As the powder drops then I slowly let the pan down away from the drop tube. No muss, no fuss. I also use a Uniflow measure.

I have done it the way DJ does but I have another way I like better.
I put the funnel on the case and load it then dump it into the pan. YMMV.

OR
only AFTER the measure is set, put the case up to the mouth of drop tube on the measure and operate handle
When throwing a charge to the pan to measure, I put the pan up tight against the bottom of the drop tube and operate the handle.
How often are you weighing the powder charges??

Definitely the better way, or use any small, deep receptacle.
Both the Lee & RCBS scale pans are difficult to get tight enough under the drop tube to stop errant grains from escaping.

When not using a Dillion, my method is to charge all the cases in a loading tray, then at random pick 5 to weigh. That way you keep a consistent motion going for all the cases, and in theory, more consistent charges.
The same method works when you want to weigh every charge, and pouring from a case is easier than dumping from the measure.
