Opinions on Maadi AK?

Does anyone have an opinion? Dumb question, I know, right?!

I have one, but I was just curious what the consensus was. Mine shoots fairly accurately - I mean, it IS an AK! Minute of bad guy works for me with this one. I just have to fix the canted front sight, but other than that, she looks pretty good. I have a receiver cover scope mount, and even as sloppy as it is, it still hits the target no matter how much you move around or even remove and replace the cover. I only recently noticed the canted front sight because I had the scope cover off and the original cover on.

I've heard that they were the least in quality as far as AK's go
Also some of the after market parts don't fit well?
But then again as you said, "It's an AK" so as long as the bullet goes down the pipe when you squeeze off a round and you can hit your target, how auful could it be?

I love my Maadis. When they were the first ones ever imported in the early 1980s, they were widely regarded to be the closest we could get to a true AKM. With the large numbers imported later, I think the quality slid a bit, but nothing too extreme compared to some of the Romanian clunkers I've seen. But they all have thier virtues. If it works well, strut it! They are all awesome in thier own little way!

I bought one in the mid 90's and I still love it. I used to shoot every weekend and never a failure. I have heard people talk bad about the Maadi AK but I have no complaints.

I think they suck. Never understood why people got all wet and squishy over them. I rate them as the lowest quality arsenal on earth.

If its not a steyr import, and therefore pre-1989, then I see no redeeming qualities. I've had NIB ones that didn't function. traded 'em in for chinese ones.

Of course, if yours works, then great - get rid of that abortion stock, and you'll be ready to go.

Well i have owned Maadi's for years never had a problem. This is the newest one:biggrin: I dumped the b-hole stock and got an Ironwood, Way better. And thanks again to gunplumber for the heads up on the finish. I got five kids so they are all i can afford, Hell im lucky to get it. Lots of kissing wifes But:eek: They might be at the bottom of the pile , But hey im still a proud gun owner:wink:
