A few months ago, KY Imports was advertising M-1 Garand stocks in two grade (regular and select). I ordered one selected-grade for evaluation and it was beautiful. My mistake was probably in telling them that I was ordering one for eval before buying several for our shooting club's rifles. First they sent me three M-14 stocks. Nice, but they don't fit on M-1's very well. I sent those back and I got M-1 wood but they were three pieces of total crap that looked like they'd been used to hit rocks across a field. Two of them had obvious through-and-through cracks at the comb. These "select" stocks were totally unservicable. So KY agreed to replace the two bad ones but said they'd only replace the cracked ones and not the banged up one that wasn't cracked. They defended sending me these crap stocks and charging for hand-pick by stating that I "obviously wasn't aware of the stocks they had to choose from."
When I asked what criteria they were using if they were shipping out visibly cracked stocks as "hand selected", Tony replied that "sometimes those just slip by. We're too busy to be able to really inspect each one." So what the hell did I pay a select fee for?
Anyway, I ship the two bad ones back, and I get another beat-to-hell stock and another cracked one. What a suprise. This time I demanded a total refund and they said they'd only refund my money on the cracked one and that they were only doing this because they were getting tired of dealing with me. Excuse me, but who is the one who keeps screwing up the order and mis-representing the goods?
Needless to say, it took Tony over 2 months to send the refund. every time I'd call, he'd say "yeah...that's sitting right here. I'll get it out today." And another couple of weeks would pass before I'd call and get the same story.
Finally the money came and I'm washing my hands of KY Imports for good. I really hope the place burns down or ATF raids them and cleans them out. They sure don't need to stay in business if this is how they treat customers.

sorry to hear it but I'd have to say the majoirity of hand picked stuff is hand picked "off the top of the pile" I worked at a well known gun shop in NC for about 6 months a few years ago. and if I didn't hand pick the item it didn't get hand picked! and the people in the back I worked with would always try to tell me we didn't have time to do that just grab one!this is while they're leaning on the packing table smoking! yeah know time! they all seemed to resent me for wanting to please the cutomer.problem also is alot of the people "handpicking" wouldn't know a garand stock from a m14 stock, they're just working their 8 hrs shift.

Well when Tapco hand picks something I'm willing to bet is a TRUE HAND PICK.

When I had TAPCO hand-pick an IZZY heavy barrel for me (for $5.00 adder) it was hand picked by and brought out by Buddie Daniels himself. I trust TAPCO - I don't trust these other clowns out there.

This just another bad experience, in a long line of bad experiences with KY Imports.
Many members have "been bent over and given the shaft" by KYI.....
I don't think my post from a while back is still available. But the short of it is ---bad quality product returned, no refund, numerous attempts made to prove shipping of bad product, .....no refund, more attempts made, ....still no refund.
Consider yourself lucky to have been refunded at all...
Thanks for posting and spread the word....

Damn, it only took two months to get a refund. That must be some kinda record for that scum bag Tony. I'm shocked you didn't have to call your Credit card company to get action.

If you ask them if they have Imbel receivered CAI FALS they will say yes!
When it arrives it will be a Hesse!
Ask me how I know?
Anotherthing is the FAL you buy has an 80% chance of being the most expensive club you will have ever bought!
After about $1600.00 the Fal now works but still looks like SHIT!

$1600?!,... man,.. I can build one with a new DSA receiver, new argentine barrel, and a new stripped lower,.. essentially making it a new rifle for $1000 or less. But as far as KY imports go,.. they sound like major toids. I'm in Kentucky,... they givin us hillbillies a bad name.

Some guy on assault web was raving about how good they were with glocks and they do have good prices, but the customer service stories here scare me, so I keep not ordering. Anybody with any experience ordering pistols from them? any differences? I'm just reluctant, in the extreme, to order from them when my FAL brothers are so ripped off by them. Kyle

I only live about 7 miles from KY Imports, and the *ONLY* way I do business with them is to be able to check out the item I want first, and then buy. Too many times when I've gone by in person they usually bring out some of their crap and expect me to bite. If I tell them it's crap they'll generally go back and bring out something pretty nice. I guess their priority is to see if they can sucker someone into buying crap, and if rejected (if done in person) bring out something nice to save the sale.
Why couldn't there be someone near me with a good rep like TAPCO instead of KY Imports!

I would definitely pay more just to avoid dealing with Tony and KY Imports. (Especially that rude little troll who answers their phones.)
Honesty and customer service are important in business and they definitely lack it based on my experience.
It's also telling that there is a Kentucky-based gun-rights group down there and none of them want anything to do with Tony either. I figure they know him even better than I do since he's in their back yard.
