I just recieved a check for my refund from the Imbel grade 1 kit I returned. It took 3 weeks from the time they signed for the package.

When I returned the kit I wrote a very nice, courteous letter describing why I was returning the kit, and why I desired a refund instead of a replacement. I also requested a refund in full due to being misled by their ad and the sales girl on the phone.

See my post regarding the condition of the kit here: http://www.l1a1.com/cgi-bin/forums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=014458

I placed a copy of this letter in the box with the kit, and mailed a copy to Uli, and to the customer service manager.

I had high hopes they would do the right thing. NO WAY!! They took the 20 % restocking fee out and sent me the balance.

Then they had the balls to include a letter with the check stating, "We look forward to doing business with you in the future."

Fat Chance!!

Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me.

I'll never spend another dime with them, and I will expend all effort necessary to keep any others from doing the same.

Thanks for allowing my rant.
Mike

I would suggest that folks having problems with IO post a complaint with the BBB www.bbb.org. (http://www.bbb.org.) It only takes a minute, and IO has agreed to BBB mediation of complaints. Looks to me like folks mostly just eat it after comparing what I see on the boards to what the BBB records show for IO! At a minimum it would keep a record of the behavior of this company right where folks can find it.

Hey newFAL;
I guess they need that lousy 20% restocking fee to stay in business :mad:
Makes you wanna Vomit :eek:
After dealing with some dealers that advertise here, I wonder how they stay in business, most have a WWW E-mail address but never respond, go figure.

For what its worth, I get about ten e-mails a week from invalid addresses or mail box full. Makes it kind of hard to respond. No defense of IO, they still suck. And the BBB is bullshit. They can't compell a business to do anything, nor does a customer have to be truthful in their complaint. Like a sexual harrassment complaint, there is no penalty for the accuser lying. Its nothing more than a beaurocracy propogating its own existence. Like the Postal inspector, its useless. Best defense against IO and others who do false advertising or baitand switch is to pay by credit card, then do a chargeback if there are problems and let them fight their credit card processing company to get the money back. Alot of chargebacks may not pull their card acceptance priviledges, but it will get them charged a higher discount rate.

With the 20% restocking fee, PLUS shipping BOTH ways, Inter-Ord is actually gouging a dissatisfied customer more like 30% for any order under $300.
I am unaware of any other company, in ANY business, that charges 20%, 10-15% being the norm with few returns.

The bottom line is Inter-Ord knows that most of their inventory is garbage, so alot of it will be returned, that's why they got it so cheap. With so many returns they've turned what most companies dread into a profitable way to do business. Ever wonder why no one else has like items in their inventory? Only Inter-Ord would bid on most of this worn-out stuff, in lieu of it being scrapped. They've been like this since they started, so no nice letter or threats will work, as they've heard it all before. All they care about is that 20%, more of a profit than most businesses make, and they have the returned items as a bonus to resell.
