Here is a picture of the Kit I received today from Tapco.

The handguards are split (unusable)
The pistol grip is split (unusable)
The winter trigger guard is rusted heavily (unusable)
The Barrel appears to be in good shape
The Bolt and Carrier appear to be in good shape
Stock is decent but not worth refinishing (to far gone)
The Top cover is in good shape
The lower receiver is rusted heavily under the pistol grip. (unusable)
I was going to use this Kit for my Heavy barreled rifle so the forward wasnt to big of a deal but it doesn't look like I will be using much of the lower in this case. All in all I probably wouldnt buy another from them for this price. But just my opinion, Does anyone know of a place where I can get a nice L1A1 kit, that I wouldn't have to scrap most of?

I purchased my L1A1 kit from Brad at Gunthings for $225 and it was all everyone said it would be...great. I decided to go with Gunthings after seeing up close a few kits at a gunshow selling for $199 that were in what I would consider "scary" condition. Good luck, with Cynthia helping you out things should be ok in the end...I've recieved a few bad products from them, but NEVER bad service!

Hey not a problem. I figured sense we had already emailed to figure it out, that was good enough for me, it should be there next week sometime.

I tried, so help me, I really tried but TAPCO has blocked their e-mail to Cynthia. I'm trying to tell them that their web page prices are confusing. If you buy an inch US gas piston it is $19.99. If you buy the inch H/T/S from FSE it is $39.99. That is $59.98. However, if you buy their combination set, the new price is $74.99. Now maybe I don't see something in the ad but to my way of thinking that is an increase of $15.01. They say they have cut the price by raising the price. This sounds like the way Congress explains their budget every year. Maybe their accountant is a Democrat dressed in Republican clothes.
BTW Cynthia, I was trying to e-mail you about working out a bad gas piston problem. When will they allow you back on the air?

FWIW - I've been able to fondle about 5 or 6 of the L1A1 kits over the last year and everyone had rust under the pistol grip on the lower. Every pistol grip rated fair at best. Half of the dustcovers are what I would term seriously bent, dented or scratched. So overall, i would say your kit is pretty much representative of what's available without paying a premium.
