I oredered a DSA G1 on October 26th with the refinish upgrade. Some posts here lead me to beleive that the quality of the kits was slipping so I crossed my fingers and waited. Got the G1 on Novemebr 7th.
It's FANTASTIC!
The barrel and chamber are bright with no pitting or discoloration. No buggered screws. Exterior finish is a dead ringer for the DSA receiver. The wood stock has dings but no gouges. It will restore nicely. The metal butt plate is very good.
No matching numbers but I'm pleased. These have got to be the best FAL kit deal to hit the US yet.

I ordered one yesterday, and was told to wait a couple weeks--man that is going to be hard. I am like you, my fingers are crossed in hopes that I get to do the FAL dance. I figured for the extra refinish (my first build) it was worth it to me.
Now just wait and wait. Thanks for the update.

I pulled everything apart last night. Every component of the rifle is spotless. Put on my DSA Type II receiver and lock up is perfect.
I plan on using all Ironwood furniture with DSA receiver/gas piston and USA floor plates so that I can keep original internals.

Ordered my 2 on the 29th. I hope they treat their previous customers well :) . Patiently
waiting.

I received one a few days ago, I was very impressed with how nice it looked. I stripped the finish of the bs and it is some of the nicest tiger striped walnut I have ever seen.

Greetings:
I have also ordered a G1 kit with the refinishing option.
What is the best authentic type receiver for the G1? - I am leaning towards a DSA as I alread own a DSA SA58.
Also is there a link or something where I can get some background history and pictures of the G1?
Later...

The original G-1 was made with a Type 1 receiver, from the time frames they were made, but many were later given Type 2's during rebuilds or repairs, or they were also manufactured later than is commonly supposed. from what people have posted here.
I am building mine on a DSA Type 1. I bought their reparked kit and the finish and colors match, as well they should!

It's taken a little head scratching, but my DSA G1 (w/ Repark) kit plus DSA type 1 receiver is now cycling properly on 3.5 w/ Hert. Last week it was barely ejecting w/ regulator closed (what a difference a half turn of the gas tube makes). The Rifle looks great (perfect finish match as hoped).
Now if I can just find the extractor plunger I launched into the weeds at the range, and the cocking handle pin I lost in the garage.

I keep telling myself that somehow, somewhere, somebody rebuilt or re-arsenaled [or at least pondered] a G1 with a Type 3 to fix that cracked receiver. Just maybe. I am now starting to believe... :D
And I have a replica of it.
