A few weeks ago I ordered a sizeable quantity of the used Israeli mags from Entreprise. The web site indicated one amount for shipping, but later on the day that I ordered, I received an e-mail from the sales department indicating that shipping was going to be about $52.00. I'm not really happy about it, but I agree. I want the mags.

When I received the tracking number for the order, I went to UPS' site to see where the package was and found that it also listed the weight of the package. Using this, I calculated the cost to ship and came up with a price of less than half of what I had been quoted to ship it. I was upset at this and called Entreprise and complained.

After hearing several reasons why the price listed was now below their cost to acquire and that they had to make money somehow, I finally received a $10.00 credit.

When the mags arrived I did an inventory to see what kind of condition they were in. Several had the baseplate lips bent inward so that the baseplate couldn't be removed, some had the lips bent in such a fashion that the plate wouldn't completely close, others were bent where a coil of spring had escaped and wouldn't go back where it belonged. Also, I have doubts as to whether they were Israeli or not as not one of them had any of the customary Israeli markings.

To say I was unhappy was an understatement.

I contacted Lawrence, and to his credit he allowed me to return them (at my cost - half of what they had charged me for shipping) and pay the difference for new mags.

The new mags arrived and I'm quite pleased. The mags are in the wrapper, tied with string, and have the Israeli glyphs. In retrospect, I should have just bitten the bullet and ordered the new ones, but I was assured on the phone when I called to ask, that the used ones were in great condition and that the one shown on the web site was one of the worse looking ones they had.

My main complaint with all of this is the shipping charges. If you have a product, be honest and price it accordingly. Don't try and scalp the consumer by a vastly inflated shipping cost to try and reclaim your costs. That's deceptive and IMO, poor business. I understand that the mags are heavier and that the website has a "problem with those weights", but nowhere on the website is there a disclaimer to this effect.

Will I order from Entreprise in the future? Maybe, but I'll check other dealers first to see if they have it in stock.

That's odd that they charged you like that for the shipping. I've ordered magazines from them in the past and they just charged me the standard amount. Maybe it was because your order was exceptionally huge or something? The most I ordered at a time was 17 I think.

Mine were in pretty good condition for the most part. Ranging from like new, to little finish. One had what looked to be a bunch of dried paint on the front of it. Looked like someone had set it down in a puddle of paint. However, it shouldn't affect the function. Most had the Israeli markings, but I think a few didn't. I really don't care, since they all work the same for me.

Entreprise has always been good to me.
