Is there much difference between IMR 4198 and Hodgdon 4198. Opinions on which is better. This powder will be for 45/70 and 458 Win Mag reloads.

They are identical for practical purposes. H is very slightly faster than IMR. Probably depending on lot tested. Only your rifles can tell which is better, accuracy wise. I'd use whichever one I could find. I like this powder with Cast bullets in the 45-70s.
Don't have a Mag, but I can launch 400 grainers fast enough out of a Ruger # I to make me think I do. ;)
Hodgon states that their "H 4198 performs similar to most lots of IMR 4198".
