I picked up this new knife awhile back and just wanted to know what it is worth. Blade is marked:
4240-99-127-3214
J.ADAMS 1999 ^

I do know it is a Brit issue Army knife. I just want to know if it is worth the $40 I put into it and how good the blade is.

Might be a Jack Adams - what style is it?

I guess I should have said a little more about the knife. It is the single edge knife that came out about 20 years ago. It looks like a heavy butcher knife or something like that. It has a 7 inch or so blade.

IF it is a Sheffield British MOD knife, it's worth $106.00. They are a heavy single edge blade with cross guard and usually riveted wood handles. Blade length is 6.8" and very thick.

You can check it out at www.888knivesrus.com. Scroll down the page and they have two versions.

I saw one of these about a year ago and they wanted $75 new.

FWIW

Sounds like their survival knife - massively thick blade, built like a brick sh*thouse.

If that's the one, you did good - just get a new sheath made, because the issue ones are crap - and you might want to sand down the handles a tad, 'cos the original ones'll raise blisters quickly.

Ya Andy, that's the same as I was talkin' about. They musta made em out of old Centurian tanks. :uhoh: No need for a hatchet with that.

Well worth 40 bucks and more.

Yes, good knife, used a spec ops sheath for mine that I took to SWA with me. The entire package worked very well. Well worth the price you paid.
